Mujahideen Movement Founder Sheikh Asa’d Abu Sharia Assassinated in Sabra Massacre

The Mujahideen Movement has announced the martyrdom of its Secretary-General and founding leader, Sheikh Dr. Asa’d Abu Sharia, also known as "Abu Al-Sheikh," in a brutal and targeted assassination in the northern Gaza Strip.

The attack, which took place in the Sabra neighborhood, claimed the lives of over 30 individuals in what is being described as a massacre by local sources. Sheikh Asa’d Abu Sharia was a prominent Palestinian intellectual, revolutionary, and spiritual leader.

Revered as the ideological architect behind the Mujahideen Movement, he survived five previous assassination attempts over the past two decades. His death marks a significant blow to the Palestinian resistance leadership amid the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza.

Also martyred in the attack was Ahmed Abu Sharia, widely known as “Abu Falasteen,” the leader’s brother and the movement’s Secretary of Internal Affairs. His assassination alongside the Sheikh further deepens the strategic loss for the movement, which is now grappling with the sudden decapitation of its top leadership.

Eyewitnesses reported that the airstrike targeted a residential compound in Sabra, a densely populated area in northern Gaza. The ferocity of the strike left dozens of bodies beneath the rubble, with civil defense teams working through the night to retrieve the martyrs.

The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed that at least 30 people were killed, including several women and children. In an official statement, the Mujahideen Movement vowed to continue the path of resistance and hold the occupation fully responsible for what it called a cowardly and calculated political assassination.

"The martyrdom of Abu Al-Sheikh will not end the movement; it will only strengthen our determination," the statement read. This targeted killing is expected to spark widespread outrage across Palestinian territories and beyond.

Calls for mass funerals, general strikes, and retaliation have already begun circulating through resistance factions, fueling concerns of an intensified escalation in the already devastated Gaza Strip. The assassination of Sheikh Dr.

Asa’d Abu Sharia and his comrades marks one of the gravest losses for the Mujahideen Movement since its founding, and could reshape the contours of resistance leadership in Gaza going forward.
